I have an 01 SE which has had a similar problem. It doesn't crank long but many times it just cranks slightly longer than it should. Kinda hard to explain. I'm used to my cars starting right up. My 9-5 seems to crank ever so slightly longer before starting.

I had it in the dealership and they upgraded my software but it still does it. It's always started and never taken terribly long to start but it does have me a little concerned.

I did just have to replace my battery as it died on me the other day. It wasn't a surprise as the dealer told me the battery tested a little low. I didn't want to spend the $150 they wanted to charge me so I figured I'd hang on for a while. Luckily, it was in my driveway when it died. Unfortunately, it was behind my wife's Landrover so I had to push it out! Man, a 9-5 is a HEAVY car!!!

Anyway, the battery replacement hasn't seemed to helped/hurt the problem. I've got to send it in for my 60,000 timing belt change and an oil change (along with the other things needing replacement) so I'll have them look at it again.

Any thoughts?
