Your post got me to thinking about costs to maintain my 99 9-5 0ver my 5 yrs of ownership and 95k miles. (I bought used with 10k on clock)costs are approx, nearly all services DIY

30 k service - new plugs + air filter $ 28.00
60 k service - new plugs + air filter $ 28.00

80k major service (my interval) serp belt, pulley, gas filter $ 90
spark plugs, 90k $ 8

brakes, 2 sets of front pads, 1 yr, rotors replaced at 90k $ 150

new windshield (yes, Sekurit, installed by shop) $ 258
new wiper blades, 2x $ 20.00
cabin vent filter (homemade) 2x $ 10.00
tires replaced 2x (pirelli 80k long wear on now) $ 800
wheel alignment $ 40.00
transmission flush (overpaid, but done at dealer for strategic $ 160
reason while car in at 50k for loads of warranty work)
2 halogen bulbs $ 16.00
2 cans R134 $ 10.00
1 battery $ 70.00
1 DI as a spare $ 289
oil changes & filters, done at 6k intervals, $8.00 per $ 72
1/2 of oil & filters free courtesy of $ 100 gift certificate from
Saab after I complained bitterly about DI failure
cost of tow to dealer when DI failed $ 60
misc brake fluid, windshield cleaner, $ 15

total $ 2049

$ 800 of the total is for tires, the only unecessary cost is for that spare DI in the trunk. I do not believe in any additives, so I never use any. That $ 2049 over 5 yrs and 85k miles doesn't seem too excessive.
