I have owned 2 (1976 99GL, and the current 1999 9-5SW) and leased 2 (1995 NG900S and 2000 9-3), and have had the usual ups and downs, but on the other hand I have also owned two Pontiac's, two Buick's, a Plymouth and a Cadillac, and your arguments would hold for all those vehicles too! My wife's vehicle is an Acura, and it would be covered off as well.

My Dad was an aircraft instrument and electrical tech, and finished up as a Warrant Officer in the CAF. We have a limited number of planes here in Canada, unlike the US, and the pilots would get to know them intimately, but not as well as my Dad and his buddies. Every aircraft has a personality, and likes to be flown in one manner more than in another - and some don't like the styles of a certain pilot, too. One-oh-seven would also have more electrical glitches than one-oh-six, and so on, and soon word would get out and the pilots would get picky.

I think the aircraft heritage is more than a myth for SAABies - each has to be treated in a particular way. Sorry to hear the SNAG's on your SAAB's got in the way - but I probably would have stuck it out instead of taking the losses on the depreciation.
