It is a very vague code and it only lets you know that somewhere between the gas cap and throttle body is a vacuum leak in the EVAP system.
It could be cracked vacuum hoses, cracked gas tank, sticking EVAP valve, lost gas cap or not tighten gas cap to name a few.
But one item stands out more than other, The EVAP valve. It is an on/off electric solenoid that allow fuel vapors to get sucked into the engine from the charcoal canister at certain driving conditions and that valve have a tendency to stick open, creating a large vacuum leak for awhile.
Then it goes back to normal behaviour so when the shop look at it, it works perfect until next time it decides to stick open.
On the new Volvos I don't do more than a light search for cracked vacuum hoses and then replace the EVAP valve due to that it is such common failure.
It is located close to right fender inside the engine compartment.
