Can you better describe what you did? Did you do this from the underside of the car? The left would be towards the driver side of the car then?
I too have a '99 2.3 lpt (88K mi) and ever since the turbo was replaced by the dealer, I get the feeling that there is slightly less power but I have no way to confirm it. Also, with the warm weather I am driving around with the windows down and I don't hear the turbo whistle like I did last year before the turbo was replaced.
