If I understand your message, correctly, it is your Check Engine Light that you are trying to reset. The CEL does not indicate a need for servic; that need is indicated in your SID display by noting the words "Service" in the digital display screen. This is cleared by the procedure of holding down the Clear button.

The CEL indicates an engine fault, typically related to the emissions systems (but that could mean a lot of things). The occurrance of the CEL would indicate that a fault code has been thrown and stored in the car's engine management system, which can be retrieved with an OBDII reader. It would be a good action to have this code read to get an idea of what is happenning. However, if it is a simple stumble and the fault does not reoccur, the CEL will clear itself after several starts with no faults.
