It sounds like the classic symptoms of a warped rotor. The garage may have just turned the rotors, making them flat again. Warped rotors are usually caused by heat from either using the brakes really hard (jackrabbit starts and stops) or sometimes a seized caliper. I would imagine that it should be covered under warranty; make sure to ask them to replace the rotor rather than turn it. You might also ask them to check the brake calipers to make sure they release properly.
If you drive your car really hard, warped rotors will just be a fact of life.
