I have a 99MY 9-5SW,2.3lpt,96000km and it is a great vehicle for my wife and our twin boys BUT I wish I had the LATCH seats in the rear, which would have made it easier to mount our infant car seat bases and our child seats.
Really practical things about the wagon - we just added the Thule fat box on a set of SAAB racks, and use it to carry the stroller and some light stuff on trips. The cargo space has lots of room, and carries the stroller around town.
I have the pull out cargo floor, which doubled as a baby changing station on a trip last year. We also have the cargo net on the back of the seats, that rolls up to stow, and fits into slots in the roof when you have gear in the back that you don't want to fly around on hard stops.
I am now in the market for another one, and based on the board's recommendation to buy after the 2002 mid-cycle enhancement, I will probably get a 2002 or a 2003 by the fall. Then I can dump the Acura and drive a REAL car to work. I miss my SAAB!
Sorry I can't give you any ideas of what to look for in particular, it is just another 9-5, so watch for the V6 timing belt replacement, and check for scheduled maintenance recors, the usual stuff. At 98000 miles, you may need to change tires soon too.
