If the DI was the problem, then both DI's would have had to die at the same time for the car to stall like that. Had only one died, the car would run on 3 cylinders and probably throw a CEL. And most likely it wouldn't have started again if they both went. When a T7 die craps the bed, it doesn't usually come back. And for both to die at the same time would be strange....
If it were a 2.3, my money would definitely be on the CPS, but I'm not too familiar with the V6...but it absolutely sounds like the CPS.
