The $650 is reasonable for 30K mile service. You should check other dealers (even though they may be too far away). You should also checkout the cost of 10K mile service (it is not $650).
Plug replacement at 30K miles is standard. Your Warranty and Service Records book specifies all of the procedures performed at 30K miles.
Be aware that replacement of the front brake pads and rotors is not unusual at 30K miles. The cost of tis at the dealer could be $500-$600.....and is not included in the 30K mile service.
Call a BMW dealer for major service on a 525 or 530 if you need convincing that it is expensive to maintin a car well. Using an indy may save you a few bucks....but, check their reputation and experience on SAAB's carefully.
