Mine died today. Pull out the oil change costs. 1st indy quoted $600 for job. 2nd indy "just over $500"
saab wants $437 for the DI (I think that's what I got quoted)
eeuroparts $320 + plugs.
DI takes about 2-3 minutes to unbolt; I did it at the gas pump to check. It makes sense to put in new plugs if you're doing the DI, IMO. I didn't pull plugs, cause at that point it was getting towed, anyway, and I figured I'd wait for the parts. I would have paid part of the premium to get the car right back, but since AAA took over 2 hours, it was too late to get it and the parts together.
My guess is that you should be able to do the whole thing in 20-30 minutes w/plenty of time to scratch your head. I haven't checked the site to see if there's anything else I should check for the swap; but I updated the software ~9 months ago. If your dealer did that, it might have added in. (I think it was $100ish "special". I think saab should be doing it n/c)
So I've had 2 Saab strandings in the time I've owned the car. Takes me back to the $150 van I owned 20+ years ago (w/200k on it). I think it's the only other vehicle thats stranded me more than once. The other vehicles had the benefit of MANY more years and miles of ownership...
