I think you've pretty much covered the interior mods. Consider the combination of wood dash/shifter with aluminum accents from state of nine. I've been thinking about doing this to my Aero for a while now. Be advised that the wooden door pulls are covers for your existing pull, not new units altogether. Get them to send you some pics.
Are your interior door handles chrome or more of a 'brushed' look? I have the bright chrome in my '03, which I hate (there's nothing chrome except for them!!) and I was thinking of ordering the brushed-style to replace. Hopefully they will fit.
One thing I've been trying to figure out is how to get some trim around the door speaker grilles. Optimally I wanted a brushed aluminum trim to surround the grille, but at this point if I could find anything suitable I would be happy to paint it. I've tried everything from cutting aluminum flashing to fit, to door-edge guard available from the autoparts stores. I'm usually prett creative but this one has stumped me. Any ideas?
Cheers.
