Better mileage with name brand gas?

We have a 2005 9-5 Arc wagon. We recently drove from central New Jersey to Boston. Right before we left, I filled up the tank with 93 octane gas from our usual place, which is a Raceway, a no-name discount gas station. We drove up to Boston, and then came back. There wasn't enough fuel to make it all the way back home, so I wound up refilling the tank with 93 octane at a Mobil station. We usually don't use Mobil because the gas is a little more expensive than at our discount place.
What I wasn't prepared for was that for the trip back, we seemed to be getting better gas mileage on the highway than I was used to. On the way to Boston, we were getting about 31 mpg on the highway. After the fillup with Mobil gas, we were getting 34-35 mpg.
Overall, with our cheap gas, we're used to getting about 23-25 mpg, depending on how much local vs. highway driving we're doing. We usually do local driving.
Could the brand of gas make that much of a difference in gas mileage? If this is real, I'll be inclined to start going to the name brand stations, as the price difference is smaller percentagewise than the improvment in gas mileage.
