I have had some reverse/park shift glitches in my 1999 9-5 (107 k miles). I do miss a few 2nd gear shifts also.. I finally gave in and had my '85 900 Turbo towed away without tackling the busted reverse gear. Are the trannys the same or similar? I saw that there was a semi-permanent fix for the 900 that did not require pulling the tranny. Some sort of mod to correct the possibly defective design that has only partial engagement of the reverse gear, putting great strain on the gear edge and eventually chewing it up. Somebody's website had the procedure with good photos. I have yet to do the 9-5 transmission fluid upgrade...Is this still doable, or by GM substituting the SAAB fluid product with it's own, will this negate the improvement? I'm absolutely not looking forward to a reverse gear grind down in the 9-5 like the 900. Anybody got the solid answer on this?
