Am posting a follow up in case someone else has this problem and searches this forum for answers. Turns out the problem was not ABS but throttle body. Dealer replaced it and all is well. Total bill was about $450. $325 part plus $125 labor. While I could have got the part at Europarts for about $270 and done it myself, I just didn't have the time. Plus, the dealer warrantied the repair.
