Actually, there are many reasons why I shouldn't trade in my Saab 2002 9-5.
I came across one just the other day. The guy who sold me his motorcycle,
a coworker, wanted to sell me his motorcycle stand. So, I asked him to
bring it in. He drives an M3. He had to put the bike stand in the
"back seat" of his M3 and carefully take it back out in order not to
damage any of the interior. I payed him $50 for the stand and simply
slid it into my trunk with room to spare.
The new cars really are tempting, though. The list of cars which tempt me
are Audi A4 (no manual offering with anything other than 2.0T, no thank
you), Acura TL, new Lexus IS (manual transmission only available in IS250),
BMW 3-series and the Infiniti G35.
But the list of reasons to keep the 9-5 overwhelm the temptations for the
forseeable future.
1) The car is payed off.
2) I haven't had a single problem with the 9-5
3) Apart from a few dings some yahoos gave me without leaving notes, the
car is still very much like new inside and out.
4) Fuel economy of 25MPG in mixed driving.
5) Power when I need it.
6) FWD all weather capability
7) Plenty of space everywhere.
8) Feels rock solid
9) Is fun to drive
Also, I have my new to me motorcycle to occupy part of my attention. If
I were sensible I would keep the 9-5 until the wheels fall off. Still,
I do check out the new cars, but I know that none of them will give me
the balance of everything like my beloved 9-5.
