As with any salt, the Chlorine will often become a free radical, which in turn will bond with other substances including the metal in your car and eat it away!
Chlorine is VERY reactive.
The best thing you can do is to keep your car out of the salt and/or wash it frequently.
Send your repair bills to the State in the hopes of them getting the message.
BTW: Road salts have a VERY limited usage window. State and county road crews end up applying it when it does the least amount of good and in quantities too great to do anything but harm vehicles!
You need a little bit of salts, which are only effective around 30-36 degrees. Below that temp the salts have almost no effect other than corroding your car.
Even at the proper temps the actual effect is relatively minor.
