I had the belt, pulleys and tensioner replaced at 60K (the tensioner was going...). When the tech installed the new "improved" short belt setup the tensioner wobbled at low RPM when turning and the noise was just too loud. Since Saab no longer carries the original long belt we had to find an aftermarket belt and the tech then went on to replace the center pulley that is bypassed by the short belt. With the original length belt the noise is gone and I figure that I'm set until at least 120K.
The short belt may save money because the center pulley is bypassed (and it is a pain to replace) but the noise from the short belt setup is not acceptable in such a fine car!
