OK to replace only one?

Just blew the seal on my left rear shock. Shock and structs were replaced under "goodwill" by Saab 22k miles / 17 months ago.
Car is currently 6 years old and has 72k miles on it. I only project keeping the car another two years at most and will probably only add another 20k miles.
Am I ok replacing only the one bad shock or is it essential that I replace both at the same time? The right rear appears to be in very good condition.
Would apprecaite your thoughts.
Thanks
