2002 Saab 9-5 Linear Wagon, 2001 Subaru Outback Wagon. Both have been very reliable, with virtually no problems from either car.

I have test driven the new 2005 Subaru GT Limited Wagon. Very nice, significant interior upgrades since my model year.

I still have one major gripe about the Subarus: at highway speed of 75 mph (the posted limit where I often drive) the Sube engine revs at around 3,200 RPM (versus around 2,200 in the Saab). Consequently engine noise is higher and gas mileage suffers. IIRC, the GT is rated at 25 highway (?) while the Saab 9-5 wagon is 28.

In real world driving, we routinely get 32-33 MPG highway out of our 9-5 whereas I get a constant 24 MPG out of my Subaru, regardless of whether it's highway or local driving.

I'm considering a trading in my Subaru in the next few months and at this time I am inclined to go with another 9-5 or possibly a 9-3 SportCombi.
