the waterpump. The symptoms you have described with regards to a puddle on the right side in the area the oil filter....are classic symptoms waterpump failure indications.
Waterpump replacement on a 9-5 is a DIY project. It will take you 3-4 hours the first time.
I don't know how the engine tempature gauge reading below normal could be related to the waterpump. It could be the thermostat starting to go. You could replace this at the same time you have the coolant drained out to replace the waterpump. Note that you may have to top off the coolant a few times as bubbles in the system work their way out.
Afer you have done both the waterpump and thermostat keep an eye on the gauge. If it continues to give abnormal/low readings it could be the coolant tempature sensor located on the left side of the head. This is a 15 minute DIY project.
