If it works, then perhaps it is the delay before cranking that is the change.
Engines with carbs would squirt gas into the carb as you pressed the petal. That was an acceleration pump that enriched the mixture as the throttle was opened suddenly. Also, one needed to open the throttle once so that the auto choke fast throttle setting could take control of the throttle opening.
Maybe with a T7 with some issues with thottle demand position sensor (from petal) or throttle plate postion sensor, a stroke might take things into a a beter starting state.
