Does Saab offer free loaner cars when you get your repairs done?
Not though the warranty unless the car is disabled and stuck over night and some other exceptions, Saab pays for a rental. Some dealers do offer loaners to their own customers (bought the car there) based upon availability.
If not, do they at least offer a shuttle within 5 miles?
Dealer dependant, but I have found all dealers I have used will shuttle me to a nearby location.
Are std maintenance and wear and tear items are covered for the first x years/ x mileage?
Certain wear items are covered against defect/premature wear for 1 year/16,000 miles. Not sure what the 06 free scheduled maintenance will include, but it is certainly not the all inclusive BMW policy. Saab pays for the bare minimum in oil changes and some other service(mostly checking things). No tire rotations, coolant, tranny fluid, or any other maintenance one should do if they plan to keep a car for a long time. At the minimum you would have to rotate the tires and do more frequent oil changes.
How effectively are problems diagnosed - first or second visit, etc?
My experience is mixed. Often they can’t find it, can’t reproduce it, or say it is normal when it isn’t. In my experience dealer service is terrible when one is accustomed to a good indy.
Are replacement parts typically in stock or readily available?
Depends on what the dealer is used to replacing. Most parts are in or available pretty quickly. I had to wait two days for a throttle body in Sioux Falls because the dealer ran out and neglected to restock.
