First, all of my music is ripped at 320 - not 124. I found 124 to be unbearable and insulting to the ears. I have a 60GB Ipod - memory is cheap, but not cheap enough for no-loss resolution.
Not all Cassette adapters are the same. I bought an apple cassette adapter that plugged into the bottom of the ipod (not the headphones). It seems to distort eventhough it is not a real hot signal going in. I checked the alignment and it was OK. This unit preached the ability to use dash/steering column controls. Does not work. It works alot better in my wife's Chevy blazer - adapter is for sale
I am now using the adapter that came with a portable CD player circa 1998. This goes through the headphones and sounds better. Again, alignment makes a difference. Watch out not to pre-amp the stereo too much as this can also cause distortion and pops.
Radio transmitter is just not right for my ears - drives me nuts. Overall, the original CD is best but the IPOD 320/cassette adapter is accepable and convenient.
