turn signal assembly spontaneously falls off car!

Yesterday on the highway in rush hour traffic, at about 80 mph, the left front turn signal assembly on my 2002 9-5 Linear wagon just popped off the car. Since it was still attached by the cable to the bulb, it then proceeded to bounce around and severely scratch the pain on my hood and fender, both of which will now need to be repainted. I pulled over as soon as I could, but the damage was done. As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with the signal assembly, other than really lousy design: the thing just snaps onto the car, there isn't a single screw holding it in place. The car has never been in an accident so the only explanation I can come up with is "plastic fatigue." Of course, my warranty expired six months ago.
And it seems like my turbo is about to go bad for the second time, even though the car only has 37K miles. I was experiencing sudden drops in power, accompanied by a drop of the turbo boost needle, which is exactly what happened when the last turbo started to go bad. Of course, that one was replaced under warranty.
Is this a portent of things to come, are random bits of the car going to start dropping off now? I guess that's what I get for buying a GM product. My 1991 Saab 900S had 166K miles when I sold it after 11 years of trouble-free ownership so I foolishly assumed that another Saab would be equally durable; big mistake!
I haven't yet spoken with my local dealer but I suspect I know what they will say...
