Sludge prevention for very short city driving...

I know that our Saab's are prone to sludge build-up, and that its mostly caused by not allowing the engine achieve operating temperature. Since my job is less than a mile away, I never get enough time to let it warm up.
What could I do to help my problem? Would it be better to sit at idle untill warm? I read in the manual that it's bad to let sit at idle...? Or would it be better to drive more agressively untill it is warmed up? Sorry so short, I will add more questions later...
Thanks in advance and happy Saabing,
David
