I'm not just bias b/c i own an '02 Aero...but after test driving everycar possible upon purchasing in July 2004, i realized one thing: Saab is the best bang for the buck.
A BMW 325/330 is a fine car, but does not offer all of the amenities and functions of an AERO unless you are willing to pay an extra 5-7k. Moreover, the Benz C-Class is underpowered other than the C32 AMG...and this raises the $$$ in a hurry.
For the luxury, convenience, and ride...Saab 9-3 and 9-5 are good buys. I'll agree with the original post that the 9-3 is a tough buy over a 325, but the one thing you hold to your heart is that an 18 year old is not going to pull up to a traffic light with the same car.
We all complain about the few big money fixes to a 9-5 (ABS module, DI prior to recall, turbo), but realize that not many posts include engine failures...something common in Infiniti models, high tranny failures in Acura TL's and RL's, and the notorious power window/locks/heated seat and other electrical problems of VW&AUDI.
The difference is that Saab owners seem to hang on to their cars longer than the average buyer. We don't all sell before warranty expiration...
probably b/c we like what we're driving...
