you can change your oil to often, it doesn't hurt your car but there is real no added benefit.
general rule for oil...
conventional every 3 to 5 thousand
semi synthetic every 3 to 7 thousand
fully synthetic every 5 to 10 thousand
frequency based on driving miles per month, style of driving and type of miles (city vs. highway) also fully syn will not sludge, viscosity will eventually breakdown. So, I am an easy driver but 1 thousand city miles per month so I do mobil 1 0w40 every 5k. If I was going to do 7,000 miles in 30 days no big deal at all, change the oil before you start and again when you get back. Enjoy the trip...
