Another Solution for Hesitation at Highway Speeds

Over the past couple of months, I have noticed that our wagon ('01 LPT,125k) would sometimes have a slight hesitation at highway speeds at about 40 miles into the 60 mile journey home from work. It was almost as though the turbo was surging or like tapping on the brake while keeping the foot on the gas. After reading many posts, I was convinced the culprit was the throttle body so I bought some cleaner and went to work. It was relatively clean looking to start with and didn't solve the problem anyway but it did prompt me to do our sedan (99 LPT,155k) at the same time which was quite dirty. Time well spent regardless.
At this point, I was bracing for the cost of a new throttle body but decided to buy a new DI first, to rule that out, and keep the old one as a spare. Haven't installed it yet, however another solution presented itself in the mean time. My wife parked the car for two days at the Ottawa airport on the two coldest days of the year. The battery didn't hold a charge. I had it checked out and since it was only just over 2 years old, had it replaced as defective under warranty. Problem solved, no more hiccups on the highway. Don't know why it worked but I hope this long winded experience helps present an alternate(and cheaper)solution for anyone else with similar symptoms. Murphy's Law would say that the throttle body will break tomorrow anyway, now that I've said this today. Hope not.
