$1,000 is a typical dealer quote for a 60k service. It could certainly be less if only a 60k service needs to be performed, but could be more if somethings worn or amiss.
I would certainly recommend getting an estimate from a competent independent like Swedecar in L.A. or one of the other site sponsors. Likely the quote will be broken down into smaller chunks, service, wear items, etc., and be substantially lower for the same work.
The highest peace of mind comes from just using the dealer forever and ever, but not the best price after the car is out of warranty.
BTW is it a V6 that needs a cam belt replacement at 60k? You may have some trouble getting Saab to pick up the bill for this normally covered item because you missed the window 60-62k for the automatic warranty replacement. And don't forget to have the pulleys done, at your expense, while the cam belt is being done.
