Returned from a great, 6 day vacation in San Diego with the family, and wife's 2004 9-5 left in garage won't start, just makes the relay clicking noise. Try to charge battery, it's dead. So call dealer, they say call Saab roadside assistance, I do this, it gets flatbedded at 9 am, I call the dealer to ask about the process of picking the car up and letting them know it's on it's way. Hear nothing so at 4:30 I call the dealer. service guys say no record of car coming in.

I call Saab roadside assistance, guy claims that his records show car was picked and delivered to dealer, so he says that roadside assistance did their job and were no longer responsible. I immediately go ballistic and demand to speak to his manager or someone at GM that runs this roadside assistance program. Now this guy is convinced that I'm not rolling over and accepting "we're no longer responsible" . He manages to get someone above him to call the dealer, go find the car on the lot, and admit that the dealer totally blew it. I demand that the service guys stay past quitin time and do the 10 minute battery install.

So a program designed to make my life easier in the event of a breakdown, was not really that, I'd much prefer that Saab just delivers me the freakin battery, which should last longer than 2 yrs.

On my 1999 9-5 I replaced the OEM battery in 2001 on my own nickel, and it continues to work just fine nearly 5 years later, and I did not have to give up the car for a day to have it replaced.

Based on this, hopefully it will be my only experience with roadside assistance - it's really lame. Also the tow truck driver tried to convince me to jump the battery so he could drive it onto the flatbed, take a hike bud, I don't need to have my wires crossed.
