The OEM hitch is fairly involved. What makes it involved is they have you remove the bumper and reinforce its mounts. It is well thought out and the instructions are fairly clear. It takes a while. Here is the drill as far as I can remember:
-Remove bumper cover (easy)
-Notch litte styrofoam bits (easy)
-Remove inner bumper
-Remove aluminum spacers
-Mount hitch to inner bumper
-Put the inner bumper back and drill holes through rear of car and hitch
(This is a bit tricky, but the mounts are already there you just complete the hole)
-Now that the holes are in the right place you take the bumper off and complete the holes and mount the reinforcing plates
-Install the inner bumper
-Mount the hitch to the body
-Install the bumper cover
-Install the wiring (5 minutes)
If you are getting the parts from the junk yard you should take off the rear bumper of the donor car. This will get you the steel reinforcing plates. (Have a real good look at your car and the donor and you should see them.)
The SAAB hitch replaces the little tow loop in the back. This part of the swap is easy. The tow loop mounts between the body and the bumper. I suspect the drawtite hitch just replaces the tow loop. Easy, but not as strong.
Drive Safe,
Joe
