If you don't feel any degradation in performance or any running issues or starting problems, it is most likely an minor emission related problem like a leaking gas cap or cracked vacuum hose or an oxygen sensor going bad.
If the light would be flashing, that's something more serious and you could do more damage by driving the car (even catch the car on fire from an overheated catalytic converter).
Since it is hundreds of reasons to turn on the same light, it is very difficult to say without knowing the specific code.
But if the car feels just as mormal as before, it is a good indication that it is something minor.
