Well, if AMSOIL didn't think it was better, they probably wouldn't have it rated for 35,000 miles or a year (not applicable to known sludge engines to include Saab 2.0L and 2.3L.
How much better? Not being privy to the formulations and reasoning, I can't say. There are different base stocks used, there are different additives used in the additive package. In use, it seems to give either better fuel economy or more horsepower than the other oils.
I'm willing to pay the extra $8-10 a year for it.
