Just got a wagon a few weeks ago. 4 turbo. Does have little blue smoke at startup called the dealership an they said it is somewhat normal and not to worry about it, I guess meaning that yep they do that and unless it is causing problems no big deal. I should check the boards for more info on that. I have heard that the 4 is more reliable and seem to see more 6's for sale with engine problems. Should be fine with either as long as you take care of it. Regular maintaince.
Other things I would look for are electric problems. sid's lose pixels and make sure the lights work behind the buttons and the acc system. Make sure you get as many keys and remotes as you can from who ever you buy it from they are about 250 each with programing. One nice feature I did not notice mine missing was memory seats. I think that is the only option mine is missing to make it an SE. Other than that it like any other car. Oh the other thing you can do is check with a saab dealer and give them the VIN number. If the service guy is nice he will give you all the things that have been done under warrenty(even if it was done at another saab dealer)so if the first place says no just call another dealer. This does not get you regular service data but nice to know if recalls have been done and things like the turbo and DIC have been replaced.
