My 2001 V6 has been producing quite a puff of blue smoke at start up lately. With 160k miles on the turbo, it is probable that the turbo is failing. I am going through everything else that could cause this too because the turbo is too expensive for me. I was told to look at the PCV valve so I took that apart today and did the suck/blow test which it worked fine in. Stupid me, however, I forgot to check which way the arrows were pointing before I took it apart so I don't know if it was put in backwards or anything. Which way are they supposed to point? Away from the throttle body? I noticed that the hoses were caked in oil sludge a little bit on the inner walls. Maybe there's a clog? Also, the short piece of hose from the throttle body to the valve is really short and sort of kinked. I will try to get a longer piece of hose. I changed the oil roughly 330 in-town miles ago with Mobile 1 10w-30 Full Synthetic and it hasn't seemed to consume any. Should I pay someone to do a PCV cleaning if there is such a thing?
