Yes, you paid a lot for the repair, but I suppose it is normal. Dealer cost for "genuine GM" parts is going to be somewhat higher than your cost through Eeuroparts or another aggressive web supplier who purchase parts outside GM's supply chain.
A better comparison for pricing would be between your dealer and Eeuro's price for "genuine Saab" parts, which they must purchase from a dealer. There are dealers who "wholesale" parts to independent suppliers (such as Eeuro) for minimal mark-up, then Eeuro takes a small markup over that. I suspect that those parts are available at only a small discount from Dealer List. The savings can get even smaller (or zero) when you patronize a dealer who offers a Saab Club of North America discount and are an SCNA member.
Remember, your dealer is a "retail" supplier, whose costs include a couple of parts guys and an inventory. They also provide a roof for the Techs, and maintain themselves at the ready for when your car needs quick assistance. For sure, you paid full price for your parts and service, but it doesn't seem as though you were treated unfairly.
