In the boot (trunk) is some torx drivers, undo the 4 screws holding the di casette in, unclip the connector on the right (slide the red tab back) and it pops right out. The version should be TK3.7 if it's a new one, if it's original it's probably TK3.4 I think, my 2000 was a TK3.4. A TK3.6 might indicate that it has already been changed at another time, before the recall.
Search the site for info on the particular serial numbers they're changing.
