I have the exact same car and the lights are really bright on high-beam. The low-beams shine lower on the pavement so no one gets blinded. The Bi-Xenon's low-beam is controlled by a shutter behind the projector lens, much like and eye-lid that closes off the top-half of the light source. Even at that, the low-beams are awesome. Extemely bright in comparison to tungsten lighting. I suppose someone could have replaced the D1S bulbs with D1R type? That would definitely make them dimmer as the D1R's are designed for reflector lighting, not projector lighting. D1R's have black sections on the bulb's glass for reducing hot-spots in the reflector application. All this said, the odds of D1R bulbs being installed is probably 1 in a million? The Xenon's do loose brightness over time. My 2002 Arc has just short of 48K miles. Wish these cars had ahour meter. :-) Hopefully someone can have an idea why they seem dim?
