I would personally be concerned about much weight hanging at the back. I know many on the board tow and the car is rated to certain loads. My experience with my rear suspension essentially failing just from a trunk full of luggage makes me leery. It is interesting that most cars only have half the roof load limit of the Saab. Many roof boxes are limited to half the roof load of the 9-5. I would like to see a class III 2” receiver incorporated into the next 9-5 design. It is a very practical feature and would be in line with Saab’s stealth utilitarian abilities.
Did you have any water leakage problems with the box? I bought a fancy fiberglass roof box because I got a deal, but it wasn’t water tight so I returned it.
Was the box well seated on the hitch or could it bounce a little? I guess you didn’t bother with lights or a plate.
