This is in my ballpark... :-)
Holden use that engine in various derivatives of their large 'Commodore' sedan/coupe/utility (sold in coupe form as the Pontiac GTO in the US). The new 'Crewman' is an interesting thing... basically a four door + ute (pickup?) tray version of the GTO - in RWD or AWD. All of these also can be had with Chevy V8's up to 300kw.
Alfa Romeo also use a version of the new Holden V6 in their new 159 sedan.
Note that the Holden version is a 3.8lt, and Saab reduce it to 2.8 litres and turbo it back to the exact same peak power, but presumably a much more muscular power delivery. I'd bet that if you drove the Holden, Saab and Alfa versions of the engine back to back, you would never pick them being of the same basis.
This engine has been a global GM design, intended from the outset to be used in a variety of different brands / configurations. For example the Holden Commodore is a traditional RWD N-S engine, while the Saab and Alfa use FWD E-W.
cheers
Steve
