I studied the 9-5 today. I have no problem with the interior-it reminds me of both my 99 9-3 and my 04 linear in some ways as well as the future 07 9-3. I thought the seats were as good as ever. The dash looked clean and still had the same shape as before. The knobs are fine-what do I care if another GM car shares a few knobs. If they are durable. THe door seemed ok as well.
The chrome exterior looks GREAT on light colored cars such as white/silver and a new "parchment?" I do not like it as much on the darker cars. THe rest of the facia looks good.
The hood look more modern and in line with the 9-3's hood. I like the new lines.
Result is in two or three years I am going to have a very difficult time deciding what sportcombi to purchase. A new 9-3 or a just used or demo 9-5. With this MCE I believe the car looks updated and will still look good in 8-10 years as it might not have quite as much under the 2002 MCE.
I applaud SAAB for doing the best stall job as possible and I will be happy to consider the 9-5. My only complaint no backseat airbags but the car gets high marks for backseat damage so it is not a huge concern.
Especially because with no SID, fixed DIC, fixed sludge issue the only concern seems to be that ABS business for 2000.00. The car at the end of it's life cycle is attractive and reliable with great power and fuel economy.
My mother in law got a TL and I like this car more.
