You don't want to use the lighter socket power if you can avoid it, since it is switched. The radio is probably a better bet.
I ran the antenna on my sedan down the left kick panel, under the sill plates and B-pillar trim, under the carpet into the trunk, under the trunk seal, and up under the rear window rubber seal/trim. Actually pretty simple, nice and clean for the most part. Obviously a wagon will be a little different, but it should be fairly straight-forward.
