I would have never guessed it, but changing the fluid as you suggested seemed to do the trick. I think I'll go through the exercise again with synthetic fluid since the viscousity seems to be such an important factor. Obviously I'll need to monitor this very closely, but have you ever heard of this happening before? I guess what I'm asking is, is the transmission robust enough to take this without damaging the internals? I'm still in the 70's and 80's mind set with the hydromatics - once they started slipping they were trashed.
Finally, how do I reset the check gearbox and check engine light system - or does it need reset?
I can't thank you enough for all of your help!!
