I wanted to make sure we had discussed the gear selector switch and we had.
One way to test the gear selector switch is to place it in neutral to see if the car cranks over.
Another way to test it also is to keep the key in starting position while the no crank occur and move the gear shifter back and forth between Park and Neutral while still holding the key steady with the other hand.
By doing that you demand full power over the sliding contacts inside gear selector switch and at the same time grind the contacts together.
If that would result in a starter that cranks over or at least wants to crank every time the gear shifter is moved over Neutral or into Park, it is a pretty sure fire way to say the gear selector switch is bad.
But I assume you have tried that already, not only place the shifter in neutral and then turn the key.
