Sweden is very pretty in a quiet way, and Stockholm is the largest and most interesting Scandinavian city, followed by Copenhagen. The Danish countryside is pretty, with some nice castles and manors to visit but Copenhagen is the best part of touring Demark. If you know both Scandinavia and mainland Europe, the the Danish mix of the two can be fascinating when compared to Norway and Sweden. Of those two, Norway historically looked west and was isolated; Sweden looked east and always was more accessible.

In Stockholm, you should visit the Wasa, walk around Gamla Stan and perhaps drive out to see the Viking burial mounds and drink a little mead at Gamla Uppsala. All of the southern Sweden countryside is attractive. A tour through the glassworks is worthwhile.

For spectacular scenery and uncrowded roads though, it is hard to beat Norway in the mountain and fjord areas: Hardangavidda and fjord, Sognefjord, the car ferry from Kinsarvik across the fjord, the Flambana railway, the high (“snow”) road from Flam to Laerdal and the Borgund stave church near Laerdal will provide great photos and memories for a lifetime. August is crowded, but by early September the roads will have little traffic. Oslo is worth a day or two especially for the Viking Ships and Kon-Tiki Museums and Frogner Park; Bergen is worth a half day to stroll along the Hanseatic Wharf and lunch on prawns bought from the fishing boats.

Other than a night visiting the beer halls and observing the flesh trade in St Pauli (in Hamburg), I can think of little worth seeing in northern Germany. Southern Germany is much more attractive.

Be aware though, that distances are long and speed limits low in Scandinavia. Two weeks is very little time for your intended itinerary unless you just stay in the west of Sweden and perhaps drive up to Oslo.
