Extremely unlikely that not divorcing the OEM headunit is the problem. That only affects the computer in the car "talking" to the radio, displaying on the SID, etc. Very likely that you simply have something connected incorrectly. In particular, if you are using a premade harness adapter, do not assume that it is wired correctly. Get out your voltmeter and CHECK that each connection is what it is supposed to be, and make sure that it matches what the new CD is expecting. Particulalry, make sure you do not have the constant and switched power leads reversed. If the fuse is blowing, you have a short to ground somewhere, plain and simple. Or, the new headunit is drawing more currect than the fuse can supply. But if it is blowing instantly my money is on a short.
