Limp Home mode is a one-way mechanical process. The only way to get out of Limp Home, is to physically reset it. You probably experienced poor performance due to the throttle body sensor being bad. The low end of the position sensor usually wears first, causing bad preformance at that throttle position. Any perception that Limp Home reset occured, is due to the intermitent symptoms of the sensor performance.
