2002 9-5 Aero. This past saturday it was raining so hard in North NJ causing a brief flash flood. The flood wasn't that bad - just about 1/4 of the wheel but I guess water splashing into the engine compartment caused my car to die. Attempted to restart but it wouldn't stay idle. Until I pushed it into a parking lot and let it sit for 10 mins it would start but idled poorly . After a half hour or so it's back to normal but the check engine light stays on. I drove it 30 miles on the highway and it seemed normal. The next day I changed oil right away and the drained oil looked normal.
What could possibly cause the engine light to stay on? The car runs fine as normal but the engine light is still on. I guess the water went into the Air Mas Meter and caused the car to die as it looked like the symptom of bad AMM that I had on my previous 9000. Is there any open passage that water could get into the engine or transmission? Thanks.
