Just replaced mine. genuinesaab.com had it on sale for $253 down from $301.
Disconnect battery. It would be terrible if you accidentally had juice going through your system and you shorted your new motor out, especially if this stuff is kind of new for ya.
Remove wiper arms and rubber grommets.
Remove plastic cowl cover. Be careful not to break snaps underneath the windshield. Lift up where cowl meets the engine comparment and then slide it from underneath the windshield. If you break these, it will not seal and water will run in underneath possibly shorting out your new motor!
Remove plastic fan motor cover. It snaps into place in front of the motor assembly.
Remove wiper motor assembly.
Remove single metal bracket to the left of the motor.
Then you have access to the rest of the housing. There are 4 screws that hold one more cover to the actual fan housing.
Just be careful not to drop any screws down into the fan well.
The only way I could get the fan motor back in was from the left to right facing the vehicle from the front. If you're gentle, it will work it's way in. There is one stud on the left side that holds down the plastic housing that may get into the way, but you can manipulate the round fan assembly and the motor around it. Just don't force anything too much or you may warp the actual fan.
This will all make sense when you get it apart.
Good luck!
After installation on my '99 with 181k miles, my AC has worked excellently!
